Questions concerning 'the Heaven Test', salvation, and good works.

Salvation is by faith and works! Salvation by faith and works (again!) What is the point in trying to 'be good'? Why did God give the law if we can't keep it? We cannot be snatched out of God's hand but can we decide to leave? Was Paul being 'legal' in Acts 16 and 21? Unbelievers are spiritually 'dead' and cannot believe the gospel or make any moves towards God. It's ok because everyone gets saved in the end! (Universalism) Ok, I'm a little confused about forgiveness - is it once and for all or continual? So are you saying that God takes away a believers freedom to reject Him? Should I bet the house on 'free will' or 'election'? Is Hebrews 6:4-9 about born again Christians? Is the prodigal son parable against eternal security?
